Following rigorous review and endorsements at Board Meetings, the CSJ
annually awards outstanding achievers in eight categories of research and education in chemistry and chemical technologies. Awardees are commended during the Spring Meeting and make presentations describing their achievements. Individual Branches and Divisions also award students and young researchers for their notable accomplishments.
The Chemical Society of Japan (CSJ) Award (max. 6/year) for a significant contribution to the fundamentals and applications of chemistry.

The CSJ Award for Creative Work (max. 12/year) for a leading contribution to the fundamentals and applications of chemistry.
The CSJ Award for Young Chemists (max. 10/year) for significant research results in fundamentals and applications of chemistry. Limited to those aged 35 or younger who have had more than one major paper accepted
by the CSJ Journals.
The CSJ Award for Women Chemists The CSJ Award for Women Chemists (max. 2/year) for significant research results in fundamentals and applications of chemistry and a significant contribution to improvement of social status of women, encouraging female students and young researchers. Limited to women aged 40 or younger.

The CSJ Award for Technical Development (max. 5/year) for a significant contribution to chemical technologies. Not limited to CSJ members.
The CSJ Award for Young Chemists in Technical Development (several/year) for developing a unique chemical technology applicable to industry, limited to those aged 40 or younger.
The CSJ Award for Chemistry Education (max. 3/year) for a significant contribution to domestic/international chemistry education.
The CSJ Award for Merits for Chemistry Education (max. 5/year) for a significant contribution to chemistry education in specific areas.
The CSJ Award for Technical Achievements (several/year) for a contribution to the improvement/development of devices/instruments/plants for chemistry and the chemical industry with their special skills.
The CSJ Award for distinguished contribution (several/year) for a significant contribution to CSJ activities.
