Background
Nakanishi prize was established in 1995 in commemoration of
Koji Nakanishi of Columbia University to recognize and stimulate
significant work that extends chemical and spectroscopic methods
to the study of important biological phenomena.
- To date, the prize has been given in Japan and in the U.S.
in alternate years.
In Japan, the prize selection and the Nakanishi symposium, where
the recipient and related scientists are invited to give a talk,
have been carried out biannually by members of the scientific
community, including his students, on natural product chemistry
and related sciences. Since 2000, the symposium has been held
at the CSJ Spring Meeting.
